Book Review: The Many Adventures of Peter and Fi Volume I: Homecoming by Kelvyn Fernandes
The Many Adventures of Peter and Fi Volume I: Homecoming by Kelvyn Fernandes

Synopsis: Follow Peter and Fi as they work together, each searching for something uniquely special to them through the four kingdoms of their known world. It’s a tale of fantastical beasts, peculiar characters, remarkable settings, and a unique brand of biochemistry-based magic. A story that focuses on meaningful character interactions, delicate world building, and intense action battles.
Do you recall those books you've read as a child and drawn into an addicting adventure? That is what Kelvyn Fernandes did in The Many Adventures of Peter and Fi: Volume I. You have the dynamic duo of Peter and Fi, who navigate this fantasy world. Peter, is a twenty-year-old mage with abilities that others would not spark as interesting. Furthermore, you have fourteen-year-old, Fi who I believe is the breakout character in this novel, saves Peter's ass, I mean butt a couple of times. The dynamics of the two are displayed through their conversations and that is what gives them their true spark. While most fantasy stories focus on world building (I do have some cons about this), this novel focus on friendship and teamwork with two sides of a scale. Peter is snarky and sarcastic while Fi is snappy and sassy, its the highlight of the novel.
Characters in this novel aren't given traditional common gifts, no Fernandes provides them with unusual gifts that fit their personality. There are no mary sues in this novel which tends to happen in fantasy novels. There is always that one person who is just oh so powerful or a key, here you have two buds ready to take on their world. Now their world is what stops this novel from being a 5 out of 5. While I loved all the uniqueness of certain aspects, (a wall of dead and alive humans), I didn't feel that it was enough to capture the uniqueness. However, I am assuming because it is volume I, we will get more of a world in future novels (right Kelvyn?), but this was just the surface. Also, I was not too much of a fan of the random gore that happened but it didn't affect this score.
Hey Kelvyn, can't wait to see what is in store for these two in the future.

I had the pleasure of living out my childhood dreams with my lovely husband and daughter. Moments like these don't last forever but I am glad I was able to capture some, so enjoy viewing the happiest place on earth,
