Story Excerpt: Memories

Here is one of the first stories that I've written that has grown into a novel.

The wind whips around the group of four solemn teenagers as the pastor goes on with the ceremony. One beautiful emerald eyed, raven haired, brunette trying so hard not to break down and run away. One dirty blonde male with his jade eyes, clouding with grief and anger. A young girl with blonde locks with some dark brown streaks framing her motionless face not wanting the pain to eat away at her. The handsome dark haired, cerulean eyed boy accepting the fact or hiding himself very well from his friends. A dark brunette male with light caramel skin with hazel eyes walked away from the hidden tree hiding from his past friends.

“Love ya Izzy” Eric whispers before walking away with his tie hung low and his converse scuffed.

The coffin lowers down into the shallow grave and the brunette girl can’t take it anymore. She runs as fast as she can into the graveyard looking for an escape but can’t find one. Finally collapsing between a statue of an angel and a mausoleum clutching herself tightly.

“Samantha” A hoarse voice says.

Samantha turns to see Matthew looking at her.

“Matthew” She squeaks.
“Samantha you have to be strong please” Matthew begged.

“I can’t Matthew, I don’t want to be, let me breakdown please” Samantha begs. Matthew sits next to her and hugs her tightly.
“Why her Matthew, why her?” Samantha questions repeatedly and weeping into Matthew.

Matthew just smooths her hair and kiss the top of her head. “There is no reason Samantha it was time, her time, there is no explanation for this” Matthew whispers.

His words become soothing into her like a lullaby.

The blonde male could not help it anymore tears cascade down his face, choking back the sobs, feeling himself close in. He feels a hand clutch his own and looks to his right, his mother.

“I can’t do this” He whispers.

“Luke honey please just wait till the ceremony is done” Kelly whispers.
